What is the difference between FRP and PE tanks?

There are many differences between FRP Tanks and Polyethylene (PE) tanks in terms of materials, properties, and uses.

1. Strength and durability

FRP Tanks: FRP Tanks have high strength and rigidity due to the reinforcement of glass fibers in the fabrication material, suitable for high pressure and high temperature environments.

Polyethylene Tanks: Not as strong and rigid as FRP, but tough and able to withstand large deformation and impact.

2. Temperature tolerance range

FRP Tanks: High-quality FRP can withstand higher temperatures and can typically be used in the range of -40°C to +120°C.

Polyethylene Tanks: Polyethylene has a lower temperature tolerance range and is typically suitable for use in -30°C to +60°C environments.

3. Uses

FRP Tanks: These tanks are suitable for applications that require high strength and durability, such as industrial equipment, chemical plants, etc. Due to the characteristics of FRP, tanks made of FRP are capable of storing and transporting chemicals, fuels, wastewater treatment and so on.

Polyethylene storage tanks: Polyethylene storage tanks are suitable for applications where chemical resistance and toughness are required but temperature and pressure requirements are not as high, such as domestic, agricultural and commercial uses. Due to the properties of polyethylene, these tanks are commonly used for storing water, food, pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals etc.

4. Cost

FRP Tanks: FRP Tanks are more expensive to manufacture, but are cost effective with a long service life in high strength and high temperature environments.

Polyethylene Tanks: Polyethylene tanks are relatively inexpensive to manufacture and are suitable for users with limited budgets and relatively benign environments.

5. Maintenance

FRP Tanks: Tanks made of FRP require regular inspection and maintenance, especially in harsh chemical environments.

Polyethylene tanks: Maintenance of polyethylene tanks is simpler, requiring attention to surface cleaning and prevention of mechanical damage.
